Dabukeshwar-Tarapith-Birbhum

The temple of Dabukeshwar at Dabuk is a holy village under Mayureshwar-I block of Birbhun district. This Dabukeswar temple is the highest temple built keeping in mind its huge architecture and space in Birbhum district. It was constructed in 1287 Bengali era. The architecture is depicted in resemblance of a temple built in Kashmir not known to many people that this temple was build in the honour of Sadhak Bamakhayapa’s “Guruji” who once saved the life of ‘Queen of Kashmir’. He is famously known as “Shree Shree Kailashpati Gurudev”.
This temple is 7 to 8 km inside Tarapith’s main ‘Tarama Kali Temples’ crossing two santhal villages. Shibratri mela is held every year in the month of Falguna (February). One can only imagine in fairy tales of such a large temple in between red sand and wide field of Birbhun district, among illiterate people but trying hard to clutch on the myths of this temple, to maintain its beauty and faith.
This Shiva Temple is rarely visited by tourists because of its poor communication. But when once visited its peace serenity satisfies inner soul. This temple is on its way of restoration and the people living nearby are trying hard to maintain its ethnic value and heritage.
